The history of medicine owes a lot to the names that we are going to present below. These are, in their own right, the most famous doctors of all time.
perhaps little known to the general public, but Sir William Osler is considered the father of modern clinical practice. His work, Osler’s Principles and Practice of Medicine: Designed for the Use of Physicians and Medical Students, published in 1892, became for many years the standard textbook for physicians throughout the world.
2 Hippocrates
Born in 460 BC, Hippocrates is called the father of Western medicine. His is the Hippocratic Oath that continues to be the ethical reference for the profession today. Apart from this, his writings describe theories on the interconnection of organs, thoughts related to diagnosis and prognosis, methods of treating wounds and the establishment of bones, and theories of disease, including its prevention through diet.
Perhaps the most famous doctor in Medicine
The Hungarian doctor Ignaz Semmelweis became famous in the 19th century for establishing new sanitary conditions in the phone number lists operating room and in the healthcare environment. Practices such as handwashing drastically reduced mortality after childbirth, earning him the nickname savior of mothers.
4 Sir Joseph Lister
Known as the father of antiseptic surgery, Lister applied germ theory to surgery. To limit infections in the operating room he experimented with the use of dressings soaked in carbolic acid, hand washing, sterilization of instruments, and spraying the operating room during operations. Soon his sterilization methods were adopted throughout the world.

The father of psychoanalysis was, without a doubt, one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century. Freud changed the practice of psychiatry and psychology while elevating the discipline to the level of fully recognized medical science.
